How to Celebrate Autumn in Las Vegas and Reno

We don’t know about you, but fall is one of our favorite times of year. We get to say goodbye to the scorching temperatures and hello to pumpkin spice everything. But while we love a good latte, we are even more excited about being outside in the crisp air. Lucky for us, Nevada has a ton of ways to revel in the cooler temps, from outdoor concerts to local farmers markets. To help you make the most of this season of change, we’ve rounded up a few of our favorite activities from Las Vegas to Reno that will help get the whole family into the spirit.

LAS VEGAS

Pumpkin Picking at Gilcrease Orchard

Choose your perfect pumpkin from the bountiful selection at Gilcrease Orchard. This working farm also sells fresh fruits and vegetables, including apples, eggplant, peppers, pears, zucchini, and cucumbers. Oh, and you won’t want to pass on a cup of their homemade apple cider, featuring their own apples. We love it because apples are literally the only ingredient. No added sugar, preservatives, pesticides, or additives.

Grand Canyon Tour

There’s no better time of year to experience one of the world’s greatest wonders, which just happens to be right here in Nevada. You can go on a fully guided, all-day tour of the Grand Canyon’s South Rim, where you’ll explore this vast expanse, travel through the Mojave Desert and the Mike O’Callaghan-Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge, and cross Route 66.

Age of Chivalry Renaissance Festival

Every fall, medieval melee takes over a local park as knights, jesters, lords and ladies flock to the annual Renaissance Festival. Revelers can indulge in live music, historical re-enactments, jousting tournaments, the work of more than 100 artisans and, of course, delicious food fit for royalty.

Moapa Valley Corn Maze

About an hour from the Strip, Moapa Valley is a small, rural town that’s big on history (and fun!). It’s home to some of the best attractions in southern Nevada, including the Valley of Fire State Park, Logandale Trails and their annual corn maze. But this is more than rows of husks and hay. Zombie Paintball, a pumpkin patch, a farm swing, pedal carts and the ever-popular corn cannon are just a few of the ways families can enjoy a beautiful fall day in Moapa.

Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens

Every season is something to behold at the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens, where petals turn into pieces of art. This autumn’s Harvest show takes you through “The Garden of Time” for an enchanting experience.

RENO

Apple Hill

This is technically a short three-hour drive from Reno in Placerville, California, but it’s worth every mile. While Apple Hill is a great place to visit year-round, fall is when it thrives with family farms, pumpkin patches, apple picking, wine tasting and more.

Wilbur D. May Arboretum

There’s hardly a better way to welcome the sights and sounds of fall than with a beautiful stroll through the May Arboretum. With more than 4,000 native and adaptive-plant species, plus tree groves, outdoor courtyards and wetlands habitats, it really is nature at its finest.
