Cedar Planked Maple Glazed Salmon
Ingredients
- 1/2 c. maple syrup
- 2 tbsp. soy sauce (low sodium)
- 1 tbsp. hoisin sauce
- Juice from 1/2 orange
- 1 tsp. rice wine vinegar
- 1 tsp. each sesame oil and coconut oil
- Dash of red chili flakes (optional)
- 4 wild Alaskan salmon filets (about 4 oz. each)
- 1 cedar plank soaked in water for at least 1 hour
Preparation
Soak the cedar plank for at least an hour in water. You can place it in a baking dish, covered with water and topped with another baking dish to weigh it down. Preheat the grill to medium/medium-low. Combine the first six ingredients in a medium sauce pan. Boil gently for five to 10 minutes until reduced down and syrupy. Reserve some of the sauce in another dish for serving. Place cedar plank on grill. Once the cedar plank gets slightly smoky on the grill, place the salmon filets on the cedar plank. Baste the salmon with maple mixture every three to five minutes for about 15 minutes until slightly pink in the center. Sprinkle with red chili flakes (if using). Be sure to close the grill top between each baste. Enjoy!
